Dr. Joshua May MD

I grew up here in south Florida, where an interest in this place and the people who live here helped shape my personality. My father and grandfather were both physicians, so I certainly was influenced by a strong family tradition in medicine.

I earned my medical degree at The Chicago Medical School and returned to Miami to complete my Psychiatry residency at the University of Miami. I am board certified in Adult Psychiatry, a member of the American Psychiatric Association, and a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Upon completion of my residency, I opened a successful practice in Wellington, FL. My practice focused on treating adults with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, ADHD, PTSD, and LGBTQ+ issues, but I am comfortable treating a kaleidoscope of Psychiatric conditions. Throughout my career, I’ve been known for my calm demeanor, active attentive listening, and dedication to building strong trusting relationships with my patients. I believe in understanding each individual’s unique experiences and working collaboratively with them to support their well-being. My patients are treated as people, not just medical conditions. After nearly 15 years in private practice, I am excited to join Lake Worth Psychiatry.

I met my wife Stacy in 2020, and we were married in May 2025. Stacy and I have 3 children aged 15, 12, and 2. I feel immense pride in watching our children grow, learn, and change. Growing up here in FL, it’s like I grew up with one foot in the water. South Florida’s beaches and waterways were my playground as a kid. I continue to enjoy Florida’s warm, tropical climate and cannot imagine living anywhere else. I love fishing (salt water or fresh), SCUBA, underwater photography, boating, waterskiing, or just laying on a beach. I am also an avid sports fan (Dolphins, Heat, Panthers, University of Arizona/University of Miami, and Marlins/Yankees). I believe that the arts truly enrich the human experience. Music, photography, painting, film, anime/manga, or the simple pleasure of a good television program can give you a lot more than pleasure. However, what I truly enjoy is the sense of contentment I feel by helping to bring happiness and positive change to the world.
